A Buenos Aires contractor billing overseas clients, a Córdoba seller with Argentine customers, and a Rosario consultant serving only non-Argentine businesses may all consider a UK private limited company. Their Argentine questions differ. A UK certificate answers none of them on its own. A UK Ltd can sign contracts and issue invoices. It does not create a CUIT with ARCA (Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero — continuing former AFIP portals), does not issue a CUIL through ANSES, does not enrol a foreign company at the Inspección General de Justicia (IGJ) or a provincial registry, and does not by itself settle Argentine tax when decisions or work sit in Argentina. Eteform starts with where you live, where decisions are made, who your clients are and how money moves. Compare the current packages and identity verification before you pay. This page is general information, not personal tax or legal advice.
Can you form a UK Ltd from Argentina?
Yes. You can form a UK Limited company from Argentina remotely through an ACSP. The price on this page is From £450 + £100. The Companies House fee stays separate from the service fee. Filing is usually within 24–48 UK business hours after a complete file; that is a typical window, not a guaranteed registration time.
CUIT and CUIL are Argentine identifiers — not UK identity proof
A CUIT (Clave Única de Identificación Tributaria) is the tax code ARCA uses for autónomos, monotributistas, merchants, professionals and companies.
It is not a passport substitute for Companies House and is not compulsory for UK formation or ACSP identity checks.
A CUIL (Código Único de Identificación Laboral) is the ANSES labour number for contributions, family allowances and many public or banking procedures; foreigners who will work in Argentina may need a provisional then definitive CUIL after migration and DNI steps.
A CUIL is likewise not UK identity evidence. Enter your name exactly as on the Latin-script data page of your issued passport. Compare it with the machine-readable zone. Flag differences with DNI, CUIT/CUIL extracts or Argentine bank statements early; never edit a document image to force a match.
Local Argentine company, IGJ foreign-company track, or UK Ltd?
An Argentine sociedad under the Ley General de Sociedades is a local vehicle. A UK Ltd is a British company on the Companies House register. Creating one does not create the other.
If a foreign company will habitually do business in Argentina or participate in a local company, Argentine corporate registration may apply.
In Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, the IGJ registers commercial companies domiciled there and administers the CABA foreign-company track under Law 19.550 arts.118 (habitual local commerce) and 123 (participation in a local company).
Those IGJ guides and forms are CABA-scoped — not a nationwide foreign-company regime, and not a local Argentine vehicle. Other provinces use their own commercial registries.
The IGJ art.123 guide itself says its contents are updating after RG IGJ 4/2026, which simplifies foreign-company documents (including digital apostilled materials) while retaining controls for non-cooperating jurisdictions; exact post-RG duties remain conditional.
Forming a UK Ltd for overseas contracts does not, by itself, force every Argentina-resident founder into IGJ or provincial foreign-company inscription — ask an Argentine adviser about your local operations. Municipal licences sit outside this UK package.
Tax residence, permanent establishment and FX — facts in Argentina
ARCA’s Ganancias residence guidance treats, among others, companies constituted in Argentina and permanent establishments as residents for the tax.
Living in Argentina as a director does not automatically make every UK company an Argentine-resident taxpayer. Personal tax residence is separate from the company’s position. Whether Argentine income tax, monotributo or a permanent-establishment analysis applies turns on the facts — not the UK certificate alone.
The UK–Argentina tax treaty collection includes the 1996 Double Taxation Convention (in force from 1 August 1997) and MLI synthesised text; this page does not decide your treaty outcome.
Review the facts with an independent Argentine tax adviser before you incorporate. Cross-border payments involving Argentina run through the regulated FX framework supervised by the Banco Central (BCRA).
The consolidated Exterior y Cambios text (ordered to 14 September 2026) sets rules for export collections, service payments, dividends and other operations with authorised institutions.
A UK Ltd does not bypass those rules, and FX access remains conditional — never guaranteed by a British certificate. MERCOSUR facilitation does not replace UK formation or Argentine tax and FX steps.
Argentine residence is not a Companies House requirement. A UK company creates neither Argentine residence nor a right to work, and a directorship grants no UK visa.
For Argentine public documents, HCCH Art.6 designates the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto.
Under an agreement with the Federal Board of Notariat, notarial colleges have also been authorised to issue apostilles since 1 December 2003; the Ministry remains the Convention authority of application.
Cancillería publishes electronic apostille and verification channels for eligible documents — confirm the channel and document class before you order. Authentication confirms a signature or seal, not the content — and is not automatic for every filing.
Identity verification for Companies House
Companies House requires directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity. Link the verified identity to each relevant role; verifying as a director does not replace a separate PSC linkage where that role applies.
Not every shareholder is automatically a PSC. An authorised corporate service provider (ACSP) can verify people in any country. Eteform supports that route for all nationalities, including passports without a chip, subject to document checks — approval is not guaranteed. A CUIT or CUIL is not a passport substitute.

Hypothetical example (fictitious)
Sofía, an imaginary product designer in Buenos Aires, wants to contract with European studios through a UK Ltd while living in Argentina.
Before incorporating, Sofía asks an Argentine tax adviser about permanent-establishment risk from decisions made in CABA, whether a CUIT-only path, Argentine sociedad, IGJ or provincial foreign-company inscription fits the facts, and how BCRA FX rules treat inbound payments — then chooses between a UK Ltd, an Argentine company or another path.
This illustrates a process, not a client case or promised result.

FAQs for UK formation from Argentina
If I manage my UK Ltd from Buenos Aires, is it taxed in Argentina?
It might be, depending on the facts — where decisions are taken, what activity happens in Argentina and how ARCA Ganancias residence and permanent-establishment concepts apply. A director living in Argentina does not automatically make every UK company an Argentine-resident taxpayer.
Get independent Argentine tax advice before you incorporate.
Does a UK Ltd give me a CUIT or replace an Argentine company?
No. A CUIT is an Argentine tax identifier with ARCA. An Argentine company is formed under Argentine corporate law and local registries. A UK Ltd is neither.
Is my CUIL enough for Companies House identity checks?
No. Use the Latin-script passport name and passport evidence. A CUIL is an ANSES labour identifier; it is not a passport substitute and is not compulsory for UK formation checks.
Do I need to register my UK company with IGJ as a foreign entity?
Only if your facts fall within what IGJ administers for CABA under Law 19.550 arts.118/123, or the equivalent provincial registry track — for example habitual local business or participation in a local company. IGJ forms are not universal outside CABA, and the art.123 guide remains marked as updating after RG 4/2026.
A UK Ltd for overseas work does not by itself answer it — get Argentine advice on your facts.
Do documents between Argentina and the UK still need consular legalisation?
For covered public documents, an apostille from the competent authority replaces consular legalisation. Argentine apostilles are issued through Cancillería and authorised notarial colleges; UK documents use the FCDO service. Confirm with the recipient before you order.
Does WorldFirst approval come with the package?
No. Where WorldFirst is in your package, we help with the application. The provider decides eligibility and available services. Check the current packages for what is included.
