A Mexico City software contractor billing US clients, a Guadalajara ecommerce seller with Mexican customers, and a Monterrey consultant working only for overseas businesses may all consider a UK private limited company. A Mexico City invoice, a Guadalajara sale to Mexican customers and a Monterrey overseas retainer are not the same file. The UK certificate can sign and bill. It does not answer the Mexican tax or investment question by itself. It does not create an RFC inscription, does not replace SIEM establishment registration where Mexican chamber law requires it, does not complete RNIE foreign-investment filings, and does not by itself settle where the company is taxed when decisions or work take place in Mexico. Eteform asks which Mexican city you live in, where decisions are made, who the clients are and how the money moves. See the current packages and identity verification before you pay. This is general information, not a personal Mexican tax opinion.
Can you form a UK Ltd from Mexico?
Yes. You can form a UK Limited company from Mexico remotely through an ACSP. The price on this page is From £450 + £100. The Companies House fee stays separate from the service fee. Filing is usually within 24–48 UK business hours after a complete file; that is a typical window, not a guaranteed registration time.
The e.firma (firma electrónica avanzada) is the digital signature SAT issues for tax and many government procedures; obtaining it typically requires a SAT appointment with official ID, CURP where applicable, and related materials.
Both are powerful for Mexican compliance. Neither is a passport substitute for Companies House, and neither is required for UK company formation or ACSP identity checks. Enter your name exactly as on the Latin-script data page of your issued passport. Compare it with the machine-readable zone.
Flag differences with INE credential, CURP extract or Mexican bank statements early; never edit a document image to force a match.
Mexican company, foreign investment duties, or UK Ltd?
A Mexican sociedad (for example an S.A. de C.V. or S. de R.L.) is formed under Mexican corporate law with Mexican articles, addresses and filings. A UK Ltd is a British company on the Companies House register. Creating one does not create the other.
If you will carry on local economic activity in Mexico, separate Mexican tracks may apply.
The Sistema de Información Empresarial Mexicano (SIEM), operated under the Secretaría de Economía framework and the Law of Business Chambers and their Confederations, is the channel for registering establishments with authorised chambers — a local economic-activity step, not a UK formation step.
Separately, the Registro Nacional de Inversiones Extranjeras (RNIE) — under the Foreign Investment Law and its Regulations — requires inscription in defined cases: foreign individuals or entities (and Mexicans with another nationality who are domiciled abroad) that habitually carry out acts of commerce in Mexico; Mexican companies that receive foreign or neutral investment in their capital; and certain trusts over shares, real estate or neutral investment that create rights for foreign investment.
RNIE also describes follow-on notices and annual economic reports when thresholds set by the National Foreign Investment Commission apply.
Forming a UK Ltd for overseas contracts does not, by itself, mean every Mexico-resident founder must complete RNIE or SIEM — ask a Mexican adviser about your actual local operations. Municipal licences and industry permits likewise vary by place and activity and are outside this UK package.
Tax residence and the UK–Mexico treaty — separate from the certificate
Whether a company or founder is taxed in Mexico depends on Mexican tax rules and the facts — place of management, source of income and personal residence — not on invoices merely issuing from a UK Ltd. Living in Mexico as a director does not automatically make every UK company a Mexican-resident taxpayer.
Personal tax residence is separate from the company’s position.
The UK–Mexico tax treaty collection includes the 1994 Double Taxation Convention as amended by the 2011 Protocol (in force) and related MLI synthesised text; this page does not decide your treaty outcome.
Review the facts with an independent Mexican tax adviser before you incorporate.
Directors, UK registered office and work rights
A director may live in Mexico City or Guadalajara. UK guidance does not require a UK home. The company still needs a real UK registered office.
Living in Mexico is not a Companies House condition. A UK company creates neither Mexican residence nor a right to work, and a directorship grants no UK visa.
Apostilles: federal SEGOB, state authorities, and UK FCDO
The UK and Mexico are both parties to the Apostille Convention (in force for Mexico since 14 August 1995).
6 notice](https://www.hcch.net/en/states/authorities/details3/?aid=333) designates the Secretaría de Gobernación (SEGOB) unit for federal documents, and separate competent authorities in each state (and Mexico City) for state documents.
SRE consular pages explain the Convention and point applicants to those issuers; they are not themselves the general apostille office for Mexican public documents. Send the document to the correct federal or state authority for its issuer.
The apostille speaks only to the signature or the seal on that Mexican or UK paper. It does not prove the contents, and many filings never need one.
Identity verification for Companies House
Directors and people with significant control must complete Companies House identity verification. Link the verified identity to each relevant role; verifying as a director does not replace a separate PSC linkage where that role applies.
Shareholding alone does not make someone a PSC. From Mexico, Eteform can run the ACSP check for any nationality, including a passport with no chip. The documents still have to pass, and approval is not guaranteed. An RFC or e.firma is not a passport substitute.
Banking: help with the application, not a guarantee
If your package includes WorldFirst, the help is preparing and sending that application. WorldFirst decides eligibility, currencies and routes, and it may ask for more papers or refuse. Living in Mexico is not an account promise. The current packages show what is included.
Hypothetical example (fictitious)
Luis, an imaginary UX contractor in Guadalajara, wants to bill European agencies through a UK Ltd while living in Jalisco.
Before incorporating, Luis asks a Mexican accountant about corporate or permanent-establishment risk from decisions made in Guadalajara, whether any RFC-only path, Mexican company, SIEM establishment registration or RNIE inscription fits the local facts, and how Mexican versus overseas invoices should be treated — then chooses between a UK Ltd, a Mexican sociedad or another path.
Luis is not a client, and this sketch is not a promised Mexican result.

FAQs for UK formation from Mexico
If I run my UK Ltd from Mexico City, is the company taxed in Mexico?
It might be, depending on the facts. Mexican tax looks at residence, source and permanent-establishment concepts on the actual pattern of activity. A founder living in Mexico does not automatically make every UK company a Mexican-resident taxpayer. Get independent Mexican tax advice before you incorporate.
Does a UK Ltd give me an RFC or replace a Mexican company?
No. An RFC is a Mexican taxpayer registration with SAT. A Mexican company is formed under Mexican corporate law. A UK Ltd is neither.
Do I need e.firma for Companies House?
No. e.firma is SAT’s advanced electronic signature for Mexican procedures. UK formation and ACSP checks use passport evidence — we do not treat RFC or e.firma as compulsory for those UK steps.
If I form a UK Ltd, do I still need SIEM or RNIE?
Possibly, if you will carry on local commerce or bring foreign investment into a Mexican vehicle under the rules those registries administer. Forming a UK Ltd for overseas work does not by itself answer it — ask a Mexican adviser about your facts.
Do Mexican documents for the UK still need embassy legalisation?
For covered public documents, an apostille from the correct Mexican competent authority (SEGOB for federal documents; the designated state authority for state documents) replaces consular legalisation. UK documents use the FCDO service. Confirm the recipient and issuer first.
Does the package guarantee a WorldFirst account?
No. Where WorldFirst is in your package, we help with the application. The provider decides eligibility and available services. Check the current packages for what is included.
