A Lima independent digital agency billing overseas clients, an Arequipa freelancer exporting services, and a founder building a Peru-facing startup may all consider a UK private limited company. Their Peruvian questions differ. A UK certificate answers none of them on its own. A UK Ltd can sign contracts and issue invoices. It does not create a Registro Único de Contribuyentes (RUC) with SUNAT, does not constitute a Peruvian company through the notarial and SUNARP path, does not by itself open a foreign-company branch (sucursal) in Peru, and does not settle Peruvian tax when decisions or work sit in Peru. Eteform starts with where you live, where decisions are made, who your clients are and how money moves. Compare the current packages and identity verification before you pay. This page is general information, not personal tax or legal advice.
Can you form a UK Ltd from Peru?
Yes. You can form a UK Limited company from Peru remotely through an ACSP. The price on this page is From £450 + £100. The Companies House fee stays separate from the service fee. Filing is usually within 24–48 UK business hours after a complete file; that is a typical window, not a guaranteed registration time.
RUC is a Peruvian tax identifier — not UK identity proof
The RUC is Peru's eleven-digit taxpayer number administered by SUNAT for natural persons and legal persons. It identifies the taxpayer, carries economic-activity data and is mandatory for SUNAT declarations and many local filings.
A RUC is not a passport substitute for Companies House and is not compulsory for UK formation or ACSP identity checks. Enrolment paths exist online (Sunat Virtual / App Personas) and in person; SUNAT may also enrol certain obligated parties of its own motion. None of that is a UK identity step.
Enter your name exactly as on the Latin-script data page of your issued passport. Compare it with the machine-readable zone. Flag differences with DNI, carné de extranjería, RUC extracts or Peruvian bank statements early; never edit a document image to force a match.
Peruvian company, foreign sucursal, or UK Ltd?
A Peruvian sociedad constituted through the official registro o constitución de empresa path — name reservation, constitutive act, capital, escritura pública, SUNARP inscription, then RUC for the legal person — is a Peruvian company.
That track is Peru's domestic incorporation route, not a substitute for UK Companies House.
Separately, Peruvian company law recognises a sucursal of a foreign company: a local establishment of the foreign principal, typically inscribed in the Registro de Personas Jurídicas at SUNARP for the place where the branch will operate, with assigned capital, domicile, permanent legal representative and activities within the parent's object.
A UK Ltd used only for overseas contracts does not, by itself, create a Peruvian branch or force every Peru-resident founder into SUNARP foreign-branch inscription — ask a Peruvian adviser about local operations. Municipal licences and sector permits sit outside this UK package.
This page does not assert a general Peruvian nationality requirement for UK directors or local administrators; check any role-specific rule that applies to your facts before you rely on it.
Tax domicile, permanent establishment and FX — facts in Peru
Whether a company or founder is taxed in Peru depends on Peruvian tax rules and the facts — domicile, residence, income source and whether a permanent establishment exists — not on invoices merely issuing from a UK Ltd.
Living in Peru as a director does not automatically make every UK company a Peruvian-resident taxpayer or a permanent establishment. Personal tax residence is separate from the company's position. Keep any PE analysis high-level and fact-specific with a Peruvian adviser; this page does not decide your outcome.
The UK–Peru tax treaty collection now includes the 2025 Double Taxation Convention, signed in London on 20 March 2025 and entered into force on 21 January 2026.
GOV.UK lists staggered effect dates: in the UK from 1 April 2026 (corporation tax), 6 April 2026 (income tax and CGT) and 1 January 2027 (withholding); in Peru from 1 January 2027 for taxes on income and amounts paid.
The convention being in force does not mean every founder already obtains every treaty benefit for every period — do not overpromise. Get independent Peruvian and UK tax advice.
Peru's Constitution (Art.64) guarantees free holding and disposal of foreign currency; do not invent BCRP exchange-control barriers official materials do not state. A UK Ltd still does not guarantee any bank's eligibility, currencies or payout routes.
A UK company creates neither Peruvian residence nor work rights, and a directorship grants no UK visa.
Apostilles between the UK and Peru
The UK and Peru are both parties to the Apostille Convention. Peru's entry into force date is 30 September 2010 (accession 13 January 2010) — confirmed on the HCCH status table.
For Peruvian public documents, HCCH Art.6 designates the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (Dirección de Política Consular in Lima, with decentralised offices). The Ministry is the competent authority — not SUNARP or PRODUCE as apostille issuers.
gob.pe publishes digital apostille/legalisation for eligible electronically signed public documents via the MRE citizen-services portal, and in-person routes for manuscript-signed documents after any required certification chain.
Use apostille for Apostille-party destinations such as the UK; use legalisation for non-party destinations. Authentication confirms a signature or seal, not content — and is not automatic for every filing. Fees are omitted here; check the current MRE page.
Identity verification for Companies House
Companies House requires directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity. Link the verified identity to each relevant role; director verification does not replace a separate PSC linkage where that role applies.
Not every shareholder is automatically a PSC. An authorised corporate service provider (ACSP) can verify people in any country. Eteform supports that route for all nationalities, including chipless passports, subject to document checks — approval is not guaranteed. A RUC is not a passport substitute.

Hypothetical example (fictitious)
Valentina, an imaginary Lima digital-agency founder, wants to bill European and US clients through a UK Ltd while living in Peru, separately from a Peru-facing startup idea that may need a local RUC and SUNARP company.
Before incorporating, Valentina asks a Peruvian accountant about permanent-establishment risk from Lima decisions, whether a RUC-only path, Peruvian sociedad or foreign sucursal fits each client set, and how the UK–Peru convention's staggered effect dates interact with her facts — then chooses a path.
This illustrates a process, not a client case or promised result.

FAQs for UK formation from Peru
If I run my UK Ltd from Lima, is the company taxed in Peru?
It might be, depending on the facts. Peruvian tax looks at domicile, residence, source and permanent-establishment concepts on the actual activity pattern. A founder living in Peru does not automatically make every UK company a Peruvian taxpayer or PE. Get independent Peruvian tax advice before you incorporate.
Does a UK Ltd give me a RUC or replace SUNARP company registration?
No. A RUC is a SUNAT taxpayer number. The official constitución path (escritura pública and SUNARP inscription, then RUC for the legal person) creates a Peruvian company. A UK Ltd is neither.
Do I need a RUC for Companies House identity checks?
No. UK formation and ACSP checks use passport evidence. We do not treat RUC as compulsory for those UK steps.
If I form a UK Ltd, do I still need a Peruvian sucursal?
Possibly, if your Peruvian facts create a branch or other local establishment that must be inscribed — for example permanent local operations of the foreign company. A UK Ltd for overseas work does not by itself answer it — ask a Peruvian adviser.
Do Peruvian documents for the UK still need embassy legalisation?
For covered public documents between Apostille parties, an apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs replaces consular legalisation. Digital channels exist for eligible electronically signed documents; manuscript documents use in-person routes. UK documents use FCDO. Confirm the recipient and issuer first.
Does the package guarantee a WorldFirst account?
No. Where WorldFirst is in your package, we help with the application. The provider decides eligibility and services. Check the current packages for what is included.
